I’m building an unusual artistic and illustrative free online point and click game for my masters. the most similar thing i have been able to find is this game which i love!

http://amanita-design.net/samorost-2/ and

http://amanita-design.net/samorost-1/

basically i want to do a series of about 10 portraits. They will all be unusual, looking at portraiture from different angles (and spaces!) so for example i will have one sewn into cloth, one projected, maybe one in lego, all different mediums but with a digital twist somewhere, i want to do large digital images on a folding screen that i would make in the wood workshop. I have LOADS of ideas and they would also be presented in different ’space’.

I’m also painting one of the elephants for www.goelephants.co.uk at the beginning of may. The design is called ‘all the people of norwich’ and its basically little coloured people – i think it counts as a portraiture themed design! and definitely one in an interesting space…

here is a link to the version of the website that is being tested

its nearly done now… just a few little gliches to sort out and some changes to the text.

Hi… a few people were asking about the page flip code…

you can get it here: www.pageflip.hu

click the link to download the basic version for free. (thats the one i used)

It can be a little bit tricky to use so if you need any help just ask me!

Im slightly stuck at the moment but here is a screen grab from the Hybrid pets website so far:

At the moment you can wake the bird up and put him into the machine…

Ive also started some pet sewing attempts…

The black and yellow thing is becoming a BirdCat…. the orange jumper is an attempt at felting – I bought lots of old used lambswool jumpers from ebay… big sizes… and then washed them at 90 degrees to shrink. (makes good fabric for animal making according to my sewing book)

I like using old used things to make the pets. It gives them more life.

Here are some screen grabs of the basic FLR website set up so far… the book and hot coffee are animated. (book opens and user can turn the pages. A pen also writes some of the text)

This is Jonathan (one of my collaborative partners) at my house when we were taking pictures of an exercise book and creating a stop motion animation for the book opening action.

There will be two books on the table. The one that is already made and the excersize book we are making at the moment.

Here is one of the pictures from my animation… (the pet shop from outside)

I have hand drawn the backgrounds, scanned them, edited them in photoshop and imported them to After Effects.

I’m now putting together an animatic for timings etc.

Hellooo, its been a little while since my last post.

Im doing three projects at the moment:

1) 2 minute After Effects animation for MSN1

2) Interactive Flash website for the web elective

3) another interactive Flash website for collaborative practices (this one is a commercial project as well)

They are all very time intensive… especially as i haven’t used After Effects or Flash before the course!

Im looking forward to having a break in march (-:

A Friend of mine made this video for a film competition: www.60secondsoffame.co.uk/bafta/sixtysec/London/

Normally shes a life saving nurse and its her first time doing something like this… she came to Norwich to film it over christmas… amazingly her 60 second movie took 4 days to film! It is highly unflattering of me (I was very tired, hungry and cold at the time (-: ) and she was an extremely demanding director. Her ego went slightly mad during filming and she even instructed me to get something out of her back pocket for her at one point! feel free to vote for her after jan 28th so we can go to the baftas!

I was watching Jim Henson’s ‘The Dark Crystal’ over christmas… it was one of my favorite childhood films (there is a character called kira).

I still love it… The dvd also has a really fascinating ‘making of’ documentary (the film took 5 years to make) thats quite inspirational.

I would like to capture some of the Dark Crystal ‘otherworldliness’ in my animation. The atmosphere and the believability are also aspects im trying to work on.
